Visakhapatnam
2019
The ‘kuteerams’ or cottages are the latest addition to this already bustling basket of design we’ve created called The Palm Beach Hotel and The Andhra Art & Craft Hotel.
The design inspiration takes a lot from the streets of Greece and completely transforms it with an Andhra touch. Greek form meets Andhra sensibilities!
Everything tells a story of how we have adapted Greek inspiration with forms of Andhra Pradesh.
Right from the external arch shapes that we have used a local stone to accentuate, from the material used on the outdoor corridors flooring that we’ve laid in a batik pattern!
The white walls offset by the stained blue wood work in the rooms are reminiscent of the quintessential pristine white and blue colors you see everywhere in Santorini. The doors to the room have been studded with brass buttons and lion molded knockers / the room numbers also take away from Grecian wall fountains with the cow heads in between the frames / the wardrobes are a mixture of metal grills and brass studs!
The ceiling over the bed is a depiction of temple ceilings with an abstract ‘muggu’ design embellishing it and the art work behind the bed is a scene right out of Greece with a tolubommalata figure touring curiously around the city !!! This brings the fun element to the room. The arched window that houses the tv / the abstract lines with the stone finish above and white walls below follow through to complete the design!
There’s so many details and design elements here that we cannot word them into one post !!! Worth a visit I’d say
